New Member Approval And Orientation

Determining the fit between our members and our club is essential to the success of CCYC and as a value to our membership, we strive to establish that coherence prior to confirming new membership.

Rear Commodore

Kevin Brenden

CCYC's Rear Commodore oversees new member interviews and orientation. Kevin and his wife, Lisa, and have been active members of CCYC for over 25 years. This naval veteran is originally from a small town in South Dakota, and later St. Paul, MN, but he and his family now love living in the Cays and being part of the Club.

Thank you for your interest in joining our special "family!"

Here at the Coronado Cays yacht Club, we think of ourselves as one big family devoted to the love of all things boating and we welcome those looking to become part of it. However, just like an actual family, we're protective of whom we invite into our home.

You DO NOT need to own a boat to become a member of our club, so whether you're into boating (sailboat racing, power or electric boating, cruises, etc.) or awesome fun and family-friendly activities that strengthen the bond among fellow CCYC'ers, we take very seriously the process of interviewing new members. Being an equity club, it's equally important that we balance the personal and business sides of our corporation.

Our Rear Commodore, tasked with interviewing and assessing prospective members, is Kevin Brenden.

The Membership process includes:

  • First scheduling a tour of our club and its facilities;

  • Completing a Membership Application (and your Sponsor completes a Sponsorship Form);

  • Within 72 hours you’ll receive a call to set-up an interview which typically lasts approx. 1.5 hours;

  • The Rear Commodore submits their findings to the Board of Directors who will vote on the application;

  • Upon approval you'll be notified and will receive your "welcome" package;

  • If you wish to berth a boat in our marina, please note that you must first become a member. To maximize new member involvement, it is recommended that you attend at least two events per year and within one year volunteer for a committee.
