We embody the "Corinthian Spirit."

Almost 400 members strong, we promote and support the Corinthian spirit of yachting by providing our members with activities for all age groups and interests. We boast strong participation in sail, power and electric boat activities both at our club and with other clubs in the San Diego area.

The Jewel of San Diego Bay

Located in San Diego's beautiful South Bay, our Club House and marina are nestled behind the Coronado Cays Residential Community and enjoy one of the best waterfront views on the Bay.

Two Different Membership Options

Equity Members

Equity Members provide the equity capital for and own all assets of the Club. Equity Members have the right to vote, hold office and serve as Directors of the Club. Equity members pay a one time initiation fee currently set at $6000 and monthly dues set at $219. Equity Members also enjoy Reciprocal Privileges to other participating yacht clubs.

Non-Equity members

Non-Equity members do not provide equity capital for the club nor do they own the assets of the club. Non-Equity membership affords participation in the Club without incurring the one time initiation fee while still enjoying limited rights and privileges afforded by the Club. Non-Equity Members do not have the right to vote, hold office or serve as Directors of the Club.

So what are the differences?

  • Equity Flag

($6000 Initiation Fee, $219 Monthly Dues) Members who hold not less than one-half interest in a yacht, sail, electric or power. Flag Members have all privileges and property rights which may be afforded by the Club.

  • Equity Associate

($6000 Initiation Fee, $219 Monthly Dues) Members who do not own a yacht as required by Flag Membership. Associate Members have the same rights and privileges of Flag Members except the right to serve in the position of Commodore, Vice Commodore or Rear Commodore.

  • Non-Equity Military

(No Initiation Fee, $99 Monthly Dues) Members who are on active duty in the military forces of the United States or Allied forces, and whose interest in yachting is in the best interest of the Club. Military Members shall have all the rights of Flag membership except the right to vote, serve as a Director, or be eligible for a marina slip. Upon release, termination, separation or retirement from the military forces, such members, if they desire to maintain their membership, must submit a written request to transfer to Flag or Associate Membership. If approved, they will have the right to purchase an Equity Membership.

  • Non-Equity Social

(No Initiation Fee, $300 Monthly Dues) Social membership affords prospective members a longer opportunity to decide whether they want to join the club on a more permanent basis as an Equity Member. They are eligible to use all Club facilities and to participate in all intra-club activities, but have no reciprocal privileges with other Yacht Clubs. Limited to no more than 100 total in number (as prescribed by the Board of Directors), Social Members have no voting rights, may not hold office, be eligible for a marina slip, or serve on the Board of Directors. They may serve as committee members when requested and those in good standing may purchase an equity membership at any time during the period of their social membership, providing that an equity membership is available from the Club.

Some of The Other Benefits of Joining

There are over 450 yacht clubs in the United States, many of which offer reciprocal privileges to CCYC's members. We have a long list of enjoyable activities, many of which are family-oriented, and you don't have to own a boat to be a member. Even if you are new to the boating lifestyle, there are plenty of seasoned "salts" in CCYC who are more than happy to share their knowledge and experience.

BTW, what exactly is the "Corinthian Spirit"?

Corinthian spirit refers to the code of good sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct in amateur sport. Although it isn't directly related to Corinth which was in ancient times an important city-state and now a Greek municipality, the term is generally derived from it. In fact, for the 57 years it operated (from 1882 to 1939) the old English football club, the London-based Corinthians F.C., were heralded for their ethos of good sportsmanship and style of play based on a high standard of gentlemanly behavior. It is this ideal that we try to actualize here at CCYC.
