Meet the Fleets
Fleet Captain
Glenn Cross
Glenn spent the last three decades in senior global high-tech sales and marketing roles. Prior a career in high-tech, Glenn had been a boat ranger for the National Park Service patrolling the waters off of Long Island, NY. He and his wife Joan relocated to the Cays from the San Francisco Bay Area where, after 30 years of power boating, they now actively enjoy San Diego's boating lifestyle.
We Love to Race, but We're So Much More!
When one thinks of a yacht club, the image of sailboats typically come to mind. But sailboats are just one part of our fleet which includes powerboats, electric boats, and dinghies.
The Fleet Captain oversees the Power, Sail, and Cruise captains— with major responsibilities for organizing the Opening Day Boat Parade, Big Brothers-Big Sisters, and the Christmas Boat Parade of Lights.
CCYC's sailboat racing proudly boasts more Beer Can races per year then any other yacht club in the San Diego area! Our annual racing calendar combines 24 Beer Can races along with multi-race Classic Series and Twilight Series, and the Solstice and PHRF South Bay races. This schedule offers our members the opportunity to participate in 41 races each year with over 20 members skippering their own boats regularly.
And for those who prefer One Design racing we have a very spirited Harbor 20 fleet.
Coronado Cays Yacht Club's Cruising is a great reason to get your boat off the dock. We sponsor a number of raft-ups each year from near and far (a raft-up is when two or more boats tie together at anchor.) In the past, close to 20 or more Club boats have participated in a CCYC raft-up. The best part of raft-ups is being on your boat with friends, sharing a wonderful time on the water - and lots of food and drink!
